Bank Accounts

If you are moving to Portugal or spending part of the year in the country, opening a bank account with a Portuguese bank will help you manage your expenses and daily life.
With the account opening, you will have access to debit cards, domiciliation of domestic payments, wire transfers, etc., in addition to being able to access internet banking and manage your account anywhere.
We can help to make the process simpler, explain the procedures and the associated costs.

To open a Bank Account, some documents are required:

  • ID (valid Passport or Citizen Card, if you are a citizen of the European Union);
  • Tax Identification Number (TIN) of your country of residence and Portugal;
  • Proof of address (for example, the lease that shows evidence of registration in the Taxes Authority, the Deed of Purchase and Sale of the property being purchased, the electricity, water or gas bill);
  • If you are retired, declaration of that status from the country of origin.
  • If you are working in Portugal, a statement from your employer may be required(for example, a salary receipt or an employment contract) or, if you are self-employed, the Declaration of Initiation of Activity.

Savings and Loans

If you need to take out a loan or if you want to invest some money, you can count on our experience to help you find the best solution, whether in the comparison of rates/prices or negotiating and contracting.

03

Insurance

In Portugal, there are legally mandatory insurances. The most common is fire insurance for housing and car insurance. However, and depending on the type of insurance cover your profession/activity you have or will have in the country, there might be further insurance policies that you may require. If that’s the case, we can help you compare solutions, choose the option that best suits your needs and assist you in your dealings with the insurance company. As with all documentation written in Portuguese it is important for your peace of mind that you fully understand what you are signing. One day you might well be fluent in the language but until you are we are there to hold your hand.
